Volunteering with TVES PTG
The TVES PTG relies on volunteers for many of our most important and popular activities throughout the year. We have several planning committees you can join and many opportunities to volunteer before, during, and after events. These events help us raise funds that support the school and improve the educational experience of our students.
If you would like to volunteer, please don't hesitate to contact us and we will get you connected with an opportunity that fits your interest!
PTG EVENTS
FUNDRAISERS
Flagship Event
This will be the staple event for the upcoming school year. Check back next school year to see what we've got in store.
Read-a-Thon:
This is an annual event held in February that encourages our students to track their reading times. There are 2 levels of participation. The first is to seek out sponsorships for the number of hours that are read during the month. The second is just a participation level with no sponsorships. Awards are given for the highest fundraisers and most-read per class.
Volunteers needed: To put read-a-thon packets together, collect read-a-thon trackers and confirm hours, collect/count funds brought in, and assist with getting donations for prizes.
Benefit Nights (Dine Out):
Throughout the year the PTG books venues that will donate a certain amount if our students and families eat at their establishments. The PTG tries to focus on locally owned venues or venues that offer the best donation.
Volunteers needed: To help find and book venues. Assist committee chair with other items as needed.
COMMUNITY BUILDING EVENTS
Donuts/Muffins with Parents:
The PTG offers 2 events each year that feature a “breakfast” get-together with the student and their parents/grandparents/Aunts/Uncles or other special adult figures in their life.
Volunteers needed: To assist the night before in pre-prep of some of the food items and setting up the MPR, assisting the day of to hand out food items, clean up and tear down after the event.
Field Day:
This event is held in the spring and features a way for our students to get active. This is in coordination with the PE teacher. In the past, we have done it both in person at the school as well as virtually.
Volunteers needed: If virtual – put packets together, hand them out to student body along with t-shirts and other items. If in person – assist with setup and running of events, food for volunteers, t-shirt handout, other items as needed.
Holiday Shop
Each year the PTG opens a holiday shop for the students to buy their families gifts for Christmas or other winter holidays. The money raised goes to purchasing of other items for next year.
Volunteers needed: To assist with setup before the event starts, assist during the event (this is done in shifts throughout the school day for at least 3-4 days of the week), take money, assist students with shopping.
ANNUAL PTG BOOSTER PROGRAMS
SCHOOL SPIRIT
School Spirit
Spirit Sticks
The TVES sells spirit sticks that can be purchased by an adult for one of our students. Then each month the PTG distributes the spirit sticks to each kid. We also do special spirit sticks for teachers to give to outstanding students each month as well as sell spirit sticks for special occasions (Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day).
Volunteers needed: Assist with putting spirit stick packages together each month, assist during special sell days before and after school.
Tanque Verde Tuesdays
Each Tuesday we encourage our students to wear their spirit wear (anything with TVES on it). They will come to one of the tables outside the MPR before school to show us their spirit wear. Each kid’s name is then put in a raffle drawing for a prize. 1-2 winners each week.
Volunteers needed: to man table each Tuesday before school, take name and put in for drawing.
Spirit Wear
The PTG offers t-shirts to our students and families. These are grade level t-shirts in their grade color. We also put together special shirts for some of our events.
Volunteers needed: To help put together orders once shirts are ready and to assist in getting shirts ready for special activities. There may be a need to coordinate orders with the vendor depending on the committee chairpersons needs.
Teacher Appreciation
The PTG celebrates our teachers for a week in the Spring. This includes catered lunches, thoughtful gifts, personalized signs and more!
Volunteers needed: Assist with feeding our teachers & setting up the lounge buffets. You can also volunteer your time to do something special for your child's teacher or support staff.
